Q.: Following your advice we visited Omodhos village and
its lovely square and we confirm that it is a place
worth visiting. We stayed overnight at an agro tourism
guest house and we had great fun singing along with the
locals. Notwithstanding the above we were concerned to
note that the cafes/shops/square, have plastic chairs,
whereas all the rest were of the 15th century
architecture. What a shame Mr Loizou.

A.: How right you are my friends. I have written to the
C.T.O. on the subject in the past and I will forward
your letter as well. I do understand that plastic chairs
cost less and are more durable and they can also be
placed on top of each other, but, how ugly they look in
such an environment. Restaurateurs and others must learn
that going along with the environment (cloth on top of
the table, wooden chairs, cleaning ashtrays and garbage
bins etc) will go a long way towards a more competitive
business. I will not go to the extreme where one meze
shop at Larnaca serves the food with the waiters dressed
in vraka (the traditional dress), but basics is a must.

Q.: A never ending love Mr Loizou for your Q+A column
and articles in particular to the one referring to us
foreign people, not to become desperate. I am one of
those who has secured a loan for which I have some
difficulties in meeting my payments in full and having
read your article and having consulted the solicitor you
recommended, suddenly the bank’s attitude changed. The
reason for not paying the loan was because my husband
died and our finances were in administration in the U.K.
Our property was our dream house in Cyprus and I stuck
it out as you say, not only for me, but for my husband’s
memory, who is now buried in Cyprus – Love you
Elena (x)
A.: My dear Elena, what can I say to you. This paper and
our Q & A column, as well as our weekly articles are
here to help out the readers, but in particular foreign
people, who have pledged their future in this island. I
am touched by your letter and I do hope that people use
this column as a guidance and nothing more.

Q.: We live at the Latchi area/Polis and we have heard
that the Shacolas Group is building 2 international golf
courses at Limni area, just 5 kms east of Polis. Is this
for sure or another “story”, since we are both golf
enthusiasts and it will make our life much-much better
living in this lovely island.
A & E Kanalajan
A.: It is correct my dear readers. The project has
secured initial planning approvals for 2 international
golf courses, including a 5 star hotel etc. It will
happen, knowing the financial strength of this
particular group, but you must wait, I will estimate for
another 3-4 years hence. I share your views that the
area will change especially when the new Paphos-Polis
motorway will be completed. A future new style of living
but not too distant I hope.
